It is not clear when Apollonia’s relationship with Prince began or ended as he was dating another one of the stars of Purple Rain during
the making of the film, Susan Moonsie.

Prince and Beyonce famously joined forces onstage at the 2004 Grammy Awards,
performing a medley that included his iconic 1984 single Purple

Afterwards, Prince gave an interview in which he shared

Cher is set to discuss her ‘strange’ relationship with her ex-boyfriend Sonny Bono on The Graham
Norton Show – including how she had ‘no money’ after being ripped off.

The American superstar singer, 78, joined Hollywood stars
Michael Fassbender, Keira Knightley and Josh Brolin, and singer songwriter Jalen Ngonda on the famous red couch, in an episode set to
air on Friday night.

On her relationship with Sonny, she admitted:
‘We had a strange relationship and when I learned
that he and his lawyer owned everything, and I was just an employee, I said I wanted to be 50/50 partners otherwise I would walk. 

‘I didn’t want to leave, but I couldn’t be under that
contract – I had no money. There is no bitterness towards Sonny.
I was angry with him, but I just couldn’t be mad at him.
We were friends until he died.’

Revealing she sought advice from Lucille Ball
on how to leave, she added: ‘I didn’t know what
to do and leaving was a hard thing for me. Lucy was on television and part of a couple, so I went to her, and she said, ‘f*** him, you’re the one with the
talent!’

Talking about her autobiography Cher: The Memoir, Part One, and asked why she has written it now, the singer said, ‘I don’t know.
There’s no reason for almost anything I do.’

‘I tried not to paint him as a villain, because we stayed friends until the end.

‘There have been times when people just didn’t like me.

relationship with Bono.

The pair met in 1962 in a coffee shop in Los Angeles, when she was introduced to one ‘Salvatore Philip Bono’.

Cher writes that he was ‘one of the most interesting men I’d
ever seen’ and that she admired his ‘beautiful hands with long, tapered fingers’.

They hung out and became friends and when Cher told him she had been asked to move out of her apartment,
Bono said she could move in with him if she cooked and cleaned the place.

‘Don’t worry, I’ve got twin beds,’ he told her. ‘And honestly,
I don’t find you particularly attractive.’

Cher described how she was both ‘insulted and relieved’ to hear that.

The legendary singer also describes her ex-husband as controlling and ‘Machiavellian’ (Cher pictured in 2010) 

The 11-year-age difference – she was just 16 and he was 27 – didn’t
matter.

Nor did the fact that Bono was in the process of divorcing his first
wife, as Cher thought he was the ‘coolest person I’d ever met’.

At that time, Cher was doing acting lessons but soon stopped
to spend her days hanging out at the famed Gold Star Studios, where Bono worked as
an assistant to the legendary producer Phil Spector.

According to Cher, their relationship was like ‘father and daughter’ and soon she realized that she was in love with
him.

But even at these early stages, Bono was also controlling:
Cher says he was ‘possessive’ and said that they never went out dancing,
even though he knew she loved it.

Then it began to cross the line towards physical when Bono pushed her
up against the wall with his shoulders and face clenched.

Cher told him that if he ever touched her like that again she would ‘leave your
a**,’ in what turned out to be an empty threat.

Their child together, Chastity who later underwent gender reassignment in 2009 and
became Chaz, was born in 1969.

Bringing a child into the world didn’t end the horror of the
pair’s decaying relationship. After a tumultuous marriage, their divorce was finalized
in 1975.

Bono was tragically killed in skiing accident in South Lake Tahoe,
California, in 1998, at age 62.

A Daily Mail Australia audit of the members’ interest registers – in both the House of Representatives and the Senate – revealed almost 93 per cent
of the nation’s leaders have been ‘gifted’ membership to the
lavish, all-inclusive lounge.

The high profile ranks of government giftees include Prime Minister Anthony Albanese as
well as every member of his 22-person Cabinet,
his seven-person Outer Ministry and all 12 assistant ministers.

While most politicians declared their Qantas’ privileges as a ‘gift’, Labor MP
Marion Scrymgour listed her membership as her ‘Chairman Lounge entitlement’.

Daily Mail Australia in August revealed that nearly every single federal politician in the country has accepted free membership
of Qantas’ exclusive Chairman’s Lounge.

And it’s not just politicians on the take, with more than 60 MPs – including Marles, Chalmers,
King, Bill Shorten, Zali Steggall and Tanya Plibersek – disclosing their spouses have also been granted unfettered, independent access
to Qantas’ luxurious members only lounge.

Often touted as ‘the most exclusive club in the country’,
membership to the Chairman’s Lounge has long been veiled
in secrecy.

Even the entrances to each of the country’s six opulent VIP clubs – in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide,
Canberra and Perth airports – are suitably discreet.

Though, once inside, the designer lounges are immediately more ostentatious, with
free à la carte fine dining, table service, a decadent selection of wines and Champagne and
a discreet army of dedicated lounge attendants.

Membership to the club is ‘priceless’ – it cannot be bought for any amount
of money nor obtained via any amount of frequent flyers points.

Instead, each member is hand-picked and approved by the company’s chief executive
and chairman.

The sequel also screened during the Venice International Film
Festival last month in September, where it earned a 12-minute standing ovation, per Deadline.

Daily Mail’s Brian Viner commended the move as ‘bold’ and ‘brilliant’ but said it lacked

The Independent’s Geoffrey Macnab said: ‘Today Joker is best remembered as one of the most subversive and original
films of the last decade, while its hugely anticipated sequel is just as bleak and formally daring as its predecessor’.

Meanwhile, the Irish Times’ Donald Clarke gave the movie just two stars but credited Phillips’ work for making
a sequel following the first movie’s $1billion success.

Financial Times critic Danny Leigh said although Gaga worked hard to bump the ratings up in the sequel, Phillips appeared to have no idea what to do
with her. 

Giving a three star rating, The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw claimed the movie proves ‘claustrophobic’ and ‘repetitive.’

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Phillips discussed whether he would be interested in making a third Joker

Venice, a city long associated with masks and masquerades, was the perfect
place to unveil Joker five years ago; and last month,
at the venerable film festival there, it was
followed by the sequel, Joker: Folie À Deux.

The director is again Todd Phillips, with Joaquin Phoenix once more in the title role, this time joined by Lady Gaga as what I suppose we must call the
love interest, although that would undervalue her wonderful performance.

We’ve known since A Star Is Born in 2018 that she can act,
but she really is terrific in a bad-girl role. They’d have loved her at St Trinian’s.

This film is audaciously different in style from the
original, not as electrifying, but bold and brilliant all
the same.

Arthur is now behind bars, waiting to see whether he will be judged sane enough to stand
trial for murder, and in the meantime enjoying his celebrity status with fellow prisoners and even the warders, one of whom,
a sadistic Irishman played by Brendan Gleeson, feeds him cigarettes in return for jokes.

For me, Joker was a near-masterpiece, and while this
sequel doesn’t scale those heady heights, it is still a
gripping film about mental illness; not quite comparable with all-time greats such
as Psycho (1960) and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest (1975),
but not too far off.

– Joker’s Gotham, of course, is a lightly fictionalised version of New York City.
The real thing is the backdrop to A Different Man, another absorbing story, splendidly written and directed by Aaron Schimberg, about an urban loner struggling with life.

In the case of the troubled, self-conscious Edward (Sebastian Stan), an aspiring actor, that’s apparently because he has
a disfiguring craniofacial condition. Instructional corporate videos seem
to be about as far as he can get in the acting world.

There are obvious echoes of The Elephant Man (1980), and for that matter of
recent release The Substance, in which Demi Moore’s character, a former movie star ‘disfigured’ by a few wrinkles, finds a way of transforming into her own younger self.

Here, Edward is told by a doctor that ‘an alternative path has presented
itself’. In other words, medical science has found a way to reverse his condition, turning him into
a perfectly attractive middle-aged man.

But Schimberg’s point, made with great satirical swagger, is that Edward, despite
his radical change in appearance, is still the same person underneath
that he always was.

In his former condition he was befriended by his pretty, charismatic neighbour, Ingrid (Renate Reinsve), a playwright.
Now he is able to fall into bed with her, and to star in a play she has written about their relationship, little though she knows of his real identity.

I was even reminded of Tootsie (1982) and Mrs Doubtfire (1993) as Edward’s
new persona fundamentally fails to alter who he
actually is. This is illuminated by the arrival of
Oswald, an Englishman with the same condition Edward once had, but
popular, witty, confident, and gloriously played by Adam Pearson (who
really does suffer from a disfiguring condition called neurofibromatosis).

Pearson is probably best-known for his debut film, Jonathan Glazer’s brilliant
Under The Skin (2013). Which is apt, because this picture, too, is
about what’s under the skin.

The 68th London Film Festival opens next week with the world premiere
of Blitz, director Steve McQueen’s drama set in London as

Saoirse Ronan, for my money one of the most talented actresses of her generation, plays
Rita, an East End mum whose son George (Elliott Heffernan) goes
missing. It sounds intriguing even without the casting of The Jam’s former front man Paul Weller — in his
feature film debut — as Rita’s father.

I’m also very much looking forward to another world premiere,
Joy, the story of the three brilliant British medical pioneers whose work
on IVF led to the world’s first ‘test-tube’ baby, Louise Brown, in 1978.

I have heard great things about Conclave, the adaptation of Robert Harris’s
novel starring Ralph Fiennes and Stanley Tucci. A couple of new documentaries catch the eye,
too. One of them is made by actress Sadie Frost, whose directing debut was a film about Mary Quant.
This time she turns to another fashion icon of the 1960s, with
a feature called Twiggy.

And Elton John: Never Too Late promises a ‘uniquely intimate’ look at the star’s life and career.
It’s been made by his long-time partner David Furnish, so… we’ll see.

All six senior members of the new federal anti-corruption watchdog
have accepted Qantas Chairman’s Lounge memberships as calls grow to refer Anthony Albanese over the perks he
took from the airline. 

Gift disclosure logs for the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) leadership positions show commissioners are all
part of Australia’s ‘most exclusive club’ the Chairman’s Lounge
membership extended by invite only by the Qantas chair.

This has raised concerns over how impartial the body would be when dealing with Qantas matters. 

If Mr Albanese has requested flight upgrades from former Qantas CEO Alan Joyce
directly, as reported in a new book, he may have fallen foul of the strict Ministerial
Code of Conduct which prohibits ministers from seeking ‘any kind of benefit’ 

Commissioner Paul Brereton declared Chairman’s Lounge
membership in 2023, as did the CEO Philip Reed and deputy commissioners Jaala Hinchcliffe and Nicole Rose, Sky News reported on Wednesday. 

Deputy commissioners Ben Gauntlett and Kylie Kilgour declared
their membership in February 2024, which means it was after the NACC began operation in July 2023.

An NACC spokesperson confirmed the Commissioner,
three deputy commissioners and CEO are members of the Chairman’s lounge.

‘This does not impact the integrity of the Commission,’ the spokesman said.

‘Each of the statutory office holders has made appropriate declarations in regards
to Chairman’s lounge membership in the NACC Gifts and Benefits register.

‘Qantas is not a Commonwealth agency within the Commission’s
jurisdiction.’

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton and his deputy Sussan Ley have
said the Prime Minister should refer himself to the NACC over 22 upgrades
and extra Chairman’s Lounge memberships received from Qantas. 

An insight into the type of service offered by the Chairman’s Lounges was offered by a job
ad posted on employment site Indeed for the one at Canberra Airport.

The ad, placed by hotel group Accor that Qantas contracts to run the
lounges, stated they were seeking ‘a highly
motivated Food & Beverage Attendant to join our experienced and professional Front of House team’.

‘This role is based within the Chairman’s Lounge, a small fine dining restaurant and lounge area that offers an a la carte menu designed by Neil Perry Consulting,’ the ad states. 

‘Service is discrete yet attentive, providing friendly
and efficient food and beverage offerings that meets our passengers’ expectations.’

A job ad for the Canberra Qantas Chairman’s Lounge sets out the requirements to serve the high and mighty

Applicants must ‘have experience working in a fine dining environment and the
ability to work a seven- day rotating roster.

The claims Albanese received 22 upgrades from economy when booking Qantas flight by
personally requesting them from Mr Joyce are made in a
new book The Chairman’s Lounge by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston. 

Aston alleged Mr Albanese directly contacted Mr Joyce while in his
various parliamentary jobs, which included Minister for Transport to ask for
special upgrades that only the CEO could dole out for himself or his family.

According to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’ 11
of the 22 flights Mr Albanese received upgrades for were ‘privately funded’ and included overseas trips to
Rome, London, Los Angeles and Honolulu.

The book also revealed that as well as son Nathan having a ‘plus one’ Chairman’s Lounge membership Mr Albanese’s partner Jodie Haydon did as well. 

Mr Albanese insisted on Tuesday that all were ‘declared in the appropriate way’.

WHAT IS THE QANTAS CHAIRMAN’S CLUB?

The Qantas Chairman’s Lounge is an invitation-only club approved by the company chairman, with the guest list a closely-guarded secret.

It has been dubbed ¿the most exclusive club in the country¿
and comes with a distinct black card.

Members include senior-ranking MPs including ministers, state premiers and
the Prime Minister, leaders of major unions and sporting groups, Qantas ambassadors, selected A-list celebrities,
major corporate figures and high-profile media personalities.

not signed, you have to know where to look.

Inside you will find expensive wood and brass furnishings, wool carpet and marble flooring all bathed in natural light.

beers, spirits and Australian wines. Wine bottles are often given as departing gift

Facilities may also include spas, showers and an assortment of books and magazines.

Members may bring in two guests at a time. 

Lounge attendants personally alert you when your flight is to board and your personal

Lady Gaga is set to release her seventh studio album in February.

Despite lead single Disease stalling on the Hot 100 at No.
27, the 38-year-old is forging ahead with her
next album, which she described as both ‘fun’ and ‘darker.’

Speaking to Vogue magazine about the project,
Gaga said that she’s been focused on the production side of her new songs. 

‘I love producing — I always have — and something that was really
important to me making my seventh studio album was blending live instrumentation with
programming,’ she explained.

‘The album is chaotic from a genre perspective — it is genre-bending, and I think
in that way is a deeply personal look into my mind as a producer and the way I think about music.’

She also said that the album has a ‘darker pop’ sound that’s more in line with
her iconic 2009 album, The Fame Monster. 

However, fans need not be worried that Gaga is going too
somber with her sound. 

‘The album is not extremely serious in that it’s very fun and
meant to be enjoyed at a party, in a club, or at home having personal fun time — to be free of your worries at home or
walking through life,’ she insisted.

‘We were talking about it at lunch, and we’d go, “What is the plot? Is there a plot? I don’t know, I think he falls in love with her in the prison?” It’s not even hate-watchable.
That’s how terrible it is.’
